Baptist Children's Home

Ministry Description

Founded in1955, Baptist Children’s Home (BCH) now has homes for children in Indiana, Michigan and Iowa, and today cares for more than 750 children in the United States, India, Myanmar and Liberia.

The basic conviction which guides and drives the ministry is that God instituted the family. The family is God's plan for creating, molding, and shaping lives into responsible, spiritually-maturing adults.

BCH cares for their children in a group home setting. Each home (up to 8 children) has a houseparent couple who serves as "Mom" and "Dad" to the children in their care. These Christian houseparent couples model Christian family living to the children in their care. They teach the children basic life skills such as how to get along with each other, how to budget an allowance, manage a personal schedule, clean their rooms, and so forth. Houseparents teach and model to the children how to live in a godly way.

Christian families also provide foster care to children who may be better helped in a smaller family relationships. Its counseling staff provides support for the children and the dedicated people who care for them.
